Robert M. Schack

Robert M. Schack died September 17, 2023, at age 85.

Robert Michael Schack, a COLPM Fellow since 1995, was born in Brooklyn, New York, May 16, 1938. After earning a BA in Philosophy from Colgate University and a JD and MBA from Columbia University, he proudly served as a Navy JAG officer during the Vietnam war and continued to do reserve duty for a number of years. In the private sector he held leadership roles at AMF in Alexandria, VA, and at prominent law firms such as Wald Harkrader & Ross in Washington, DC, and Kronish Lieb Wiener & Hellman in New York from which he retired in 2002. Nationally known for his expertise in law practice management, Bob was instrumental in building that section of the American Bar Association, spoke widely on the subject, and was a respected and friendly source for legal colleagues throughout the country.  

Bob is survived by his wife, Susan, of 57 years, his children and grandchildren, Elizabeth Rabban, Tali and Maya Rabban, Barbara (Schack) and Brian Flumen, ila, Jesse, and Miranda Flument, and his sister Margie Yanks. Funeral services and burial occurred on September 19. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations go to a charity of the donor's choice.
